You know, listening to Duran Duran this morning, it takes me back to a time in my life where music burned images across my mind. Maybe it is just a fact of aging, but music these days does not invoke the burning images across the mind. I wonder why that is? Is it just because as you get older you are no longer as wide eyed and open to new things? Now I know that if anyone reads this post, that they will surely think me a totally weird person. I mean, Duran Duran is so….80’s. Bad 80’s at that. (Or so I was persistently told during the 80’s). This actually does bring me to a point on using music to set ambience. I recently came across a group by the name of Secret Garden (from my parents of all people – lawks, I must be getting old – I am starting to look at my parents musical tastes as good), whose music did the same thing for me. It burned images across my imagination. Not many artists have done that to me in recent memory.
I am finding that I miss the ability of music to create ambience for my imagination. I do not want to stay stuck in the 80’s. I mean, sure, it was good, but this is now, and we all need to move on
On another note, what the hell is up with Microsoft? Every time I see the WCF (Windows Communication Foundation), I see “WTF” (or What the F**K) in my head. I mean, really. Get down with the kids Microsoft. The marketing department really should “…be the first against the wall when the revolution comes” 1 and rightly so
